After having wide training in pain medicine and delivering pain therapies both prior to and subsequent to appointment as a consultant, the decision to embark on a further academic qualification in pain medicine represented an exciting and challanging prospect.  A two year course organised by the University of Edinburgh culminated in a Master of Science in Pain Management in 2008.  I am currently involved as a tutor to the MSc course in Pain Management at Edinburgh which ensures treatments include the most recent peer reviewed evidential support. click to open link  in new window
Neuroanaesthesia represents a primary academic and practical clinical activity, a special interests in spinal and brain surgery and with membership of the neuroanaesthesia group. Experience as a clinical tutor supporting junior staff and as Chair of an Ethical Committee supports clinical activity. 
The management of the difficult airways remains an essential aspect of clinical activity, is a vital skill to be taught to more junior doctors of all grades and involves membership of the Difficult Airway Society. An experienced aesthetic laser operator and laser protection officer with many years’ experience in aethetic, cosmetic facial and body treatments. A lecturer in facial rejuvenation procedures, laser techniques and filler therapies and with a contempory aesthetic practice.
